Tips and advice for measuring
Use these tips to make the process of measuring your patio or patio easier on yourself.
Measured twice. Can never be too accurate, so measure twice to ensure accuracy.
Use your body. Measure the length and width of your arms, legs and fingers and save the dimensions to memory. If you find yourself uncontrollable with the phone or tape measure, you can rely on the tools you've been given.
Know your tape measure. A quality measuring tape comes with a loose circle at the end. The slack is an intentional feature that allows the tape to slide in or out from the dial by 1.6mm. This improves accuracy when measuring internally or externally.
The circle should have a hole large enough to hang on a nail or rivet so you can measure far without the tape changing.
Did you notice that the edge of the measuring tape has a flat side? Turn it over, and you'll see that the length of the underside is printed there. You can calculate these extra inches into dimensions when you measure inside dimensions.
It's worth assuming (some of the time). If your yard or porch is a perfect square, once you measure the length of one side, you can safely assume that the other three sides are the same length. The same logic will also apply to rectangular spaces - you will just have to measure two sides. However, this logic does not apply to spaces with unique shapes or in small and electric corners.
